Brown Munthali Foundation (BMF) is a non-governmental, non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of children and families in Malawi through education, environmental conservation, and community-driven initiatives.
Established by Brown Munthali, a visionary leader passionate about creating lasting positive change in his community, the foundation’s primary mission is to empower individuals by providing access to quality education and supporting sustainable development practices. At the heart of BMF’s work is our commitment to building brighter futures for the children of Malawi.
We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive in a safe and supportive environment. With hope, compassion, and determination, we continue to work toward a transformed Malawi—one child, one family, and one village at a time.

Supporting individuals and families through economic empowerment programs and creating opportunities for sustainable growth.

Promoting environmental sustainability by encouraging community-based reforestation, with a focus on the impact of trees on both the ecosystem and livelihoods.
Providing access to quality education and resources to equip the next generation with the skills needed to thrive.

The Brown Munthali Foundation supports communities through environmental care, Christian values, youth development, and education. We lead tree-planting projects, teach conservation, provide school resources, and share the love of Christ—building a more hopeful and sustainable future for the people we serve.

We’ve helped plant hundreds of trees, supported schoolchildren with learning materials, and inspired community-led change. Our efforts have improved the environment, strengthened faith, and uplifted lives. Through every project, we see growth, resilience, and transformation driven by hope and commitment.

Our media showcases the impact of our community-driven work—children planting trees, families learning together, and communities thriving. These powerful images and videos highlight stories of change, faith, and unity. Through them, you’ll see how your support brings hope, education, and environmental care to life.
I visited Chitimba in May 2024, and I can tell that the donations are genuinely going to the orphanage and making a real difference in many ways. It was heartwarming to see the children being cared for, learning, and thriving in a nurturing environment. I am happy to support your school and the other facility operated by Dakar. The dedication of the team on the ground is remarkable and gives me full confidence in this mission.
In 2018, my wife and I visited HAJIMAC, the orphanage under the Brown Munthali Foundation. We were moved by the love and care shown to over 80 children despite extremely limited resources. Brown impressed us with his passion, transparency, and relentless commitment. We began supporting him by sending clothing, and later helped fund the construction of a small library. Brown kept us updated every step of the way. We’ve seen his integrity and impact firsthand, and fully support his work at HAJIMAC and BMF.
I helped create the Chitimba Community Library in memory of my son, Robbie Curtis, who loved reading and dreamed of working in Africa. After his passing in 2020, we founded R World and partnered with the Brown Munthali Foundation. Thanks to generous donations, we built the library, furnished it, and sent 2,000 books and 6 computers. In 2023, I visited Chitimba, helped make bricks, and saw Robbie’s vision begin to take shape.
